Members: For those of you with family or friends who are looking for a career with good-paying Union salaries and benefits, or if you're contemplating a career change for yourself, please look into these trade apprenticeships offered by several local unions. Several apprentice programs are available for both experienced workers and people with no previous background in the trades. These are good, Union jobs in trades that are always in need of well-trained workers.  These programs are especially good for young, motivated people looking for alternatives to paying for years of college. Many programs are pay-as-you-learn (such as the roofer's apprentice program which pays an average of $22 per hour, plus benefits!  Find out more here:  https://www.dclabor.org/apprenticeships.html

No Meeting Tuesday Feb 27 Members:  Due to our EBoard having commitments at the Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO meeting/election tomorrow, the General Membership Meeting this month will be canceled.  If you have an issue that needs to be addressed, don't hesitate to reach out to your stewards. Please watch your email for additional updates and meetings.

Members,

Back in 2021, Local 2401 took the lead on the telework issue by starting a petition, which then led to a rally at Freedom Plaza outside the Wilson Building (DC City Hall). Now there is another petition going around to oppose Bowswer's plan to cut telework even more.  We did not initiate this petition, but Local 2401 is 100% behind it.  Please go to the link and support this petition. The case for expanded telework is rock solid supported by research...and it just makes sense.  One more way to make your voice heard! Sign NOW!
